A small school with a big calling

Erskine College is both a college and a community. Founded by the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church in 1839, the institution provides an excellent Christ-centered liberal arts education designed to develop the whole person.

Erskine ranked second among baccalaureate schools in the Southeast in the U.S. News and World Report’s “America’s Best Colleges” and was ranked 95th in the nation in Forbes.com’s first-ever ranking in 2008.

Students may apply for admission online at www.erskine.edu, or at The Common Application (www.commonapp.org). It is important that students apply by the appropriate application deadline for admissions. Students must supply a recommendation from their guidance counselor, official high school transcript, and SAT or ACT scores.

The Erskine Financial Aid staff works individually with each family to provide a financial plan to make college affordable. Comprehensive federal assistance is available in the form of college work study and a variety of student loan programs. Merit-based scholarships in academics, athletics, drama, and music are awarded annually.

Erskine is a community built on close-knit relationships reflected in its social hub of residential life. Erskine’s newly renovated dorms feature parlors and hardwood floors, uncommon lobbies and porches with swings.

Erskine College is nestled in the academic village of Due West, a town of 1,200 residents in historic Abbeville County, S.C. Due West is located near a number of lakes and recreational areas and within easy access to the cities of Atlanta, Charlotte, Columbia, and Greenville. Greenwood and Anderson are each about 20 miles away.

Erskine's spacious 93-acre campus provides classic and modern facilities. The signature towers of the Erskine Building are complemented by a state-of-the-art science facility and a new music and math education complex.

Erskine College is fully accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) to award Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degrees. Erskine is also a member of the National Commission on Accrediting, the Association of American Colleges, the American Council on Education, the South Carolina Association of Colleges and Universities, the South Carolina Independent Colleges and Universities, the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities, and the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education, among others.
